Summertime: Tanning, reading a paperback potboiler, a margarita in hand - all is best enjoyed while reclining in patio chaise lounges.
The First of Its Kind
Mies van der Rohe, the famous modernist architect, was inspired by the chairs on the decks of cruise ships when developing his revolutionary chaise lounge. He first conceived the chair as hooking to a ship's rails, but later gave it a base and introduced it to homes, perfectly suited for both indoors and out. Such versatility is demonstrated in many contemporary models of patio chaise lounges, outlined below.
